mind set

The first step to becoming more self relieant is your mind set, what i mean by this is, if you plan to be on a small piece of ground you will need to think small, scale down what you need or want, this does not mean you have to get rid of all of your stuff it just means you that you have to be constantly thinking smaller size, or more production though out the year, a good example instead of using your garden space for only a few mounths a year you need to plan to use it year around, this can be done even in cold areas with a little planning, next thing is learn all you can about everything, this will and can save you alot of money and time, i read all those owner manuals i get with what i buy, i also read about all kinds of other things, that i think i may use down the road, learn how to repair things, i have several computers that i have fixed myself, after reading about how to fix them. also i got two computers that were 2 yrs. old they were high end and i could never afford them, but one day i was at a rental place and asked them if they any for sale they did we tried two of them and they did not work so they sold them booth to me for $80.00 i noticed that the monitor was an off brand and was not conpatable with the computers, i knew this from reading about the name of computers so i took them home hooked up the right monitor and they worked i saved myself over $1000 just from reading, this information is for people on low budgits, you also need to have the mind-set of try to fix everthing you can if it is already broken try to fix it cannt hurt it is already broken. i use solar and wind on my micro-stead to charge my batteries for lights and charge cell phone, i do this on a small scale, and use led lights it would never work using regular lights, if you go solar after a while you will start checking amps and voltage on every-thing to make sure it will work on your little homestead, with out even thinking about it, in other words think outside the box to get things done. my next post will deal with getting a place to homestead:before, during and moving, well maybe several posts, anyway i wiil lock up the chickens for ya!!!

update for today

i have been doing some spring cleaning and hope i will be able to get some photos in the next day or so and post them to the blog and i am still finding out what i can do with the blog, i have been asked several times for photos so i will be working on that tommarrow, i also built a workbench today from some scrap wood i had around you need one of them around, one of the ways to get by on, little money is to fix things whenever possable, and a good workbench comes in handy, i had to fix things on the tailgate of my truck or worse on the kitchen table, that will get you in trouble with the cook real fast, they do not like the engine oil, or carborator cleaner for seasoning in thier food, avyway we will be covering the fix it and save later in the blog, but i want to get some photos first before i really get into writting so folks can see what is going on from the get go, so far i have the fencing up and my basic solar power systom in and a small 8x8 porch deck off my trailor. well that is about it for today thanks for stopping by, i will lock up the chickens for ya!!

trying to get the hang of bloging

Please bare with me, i am still learning how to blog, anyway what my plan for this blog is to give people some idea about micro-steading micro-stead is a word or name i made up and basicly what it means is, how to be as self sufishant as you possably can on very small piece of ground i am giving it a try on a lot of 50x50 foot lot, you maybe in a small trailor, appartment, or abig estate  i plan on doing this a step at a time, i will only post ideas that i have tried myself or seen for myself that it does work, to start with, you do not have to be rich or even middle class, poverty is fine, if you are in  poverty that will take care of on problem the woory that someome will steal you money, however you will need some sort of income, this could be anything from self employment, to working, spot jobs, or a small pension, even picking up pop cans could work  next thing is, a place to live, this could be anything from a tent to a mansion, but one thing about it everyone has to live somwhere! next we will take a look at growing food, raising food, and other thing we need to live and new technoligys that are out there that can make life on the micro-stead easier, i will say this right now everyone is in a diffrent situaions, and one set of ideas does not  fit  everyone, so use what fits you and use the brain power to fix what ever else you may need, the next blog, will deal with getting ready to leap into the homestead life, it will be as easy as living  maybe better

O.K. i am starting this blog because so many people have asked me to, i am an avid follower simple solar homestead ran by MR. Lamar and he suggested this idea, next is i am no exspert speller, i will do the best i can, this site is being sat up so people can follow me, though this project of what i call micro- homesteading, the idea i have is, to be able for the most part take care myself with very little from the outside, and could keep myself going during hard times be it natural or man-made, this is not a dooms day blog it is here so people can get an idea of how they can set-up a micro- homestead on a small piece of ground, and be able to do it contforably on less than 700.00 a mounth. i am aimming this towards people on low incomes, be it socal security, low paying jobs or disabled. this blog is NOT  for the person who thinks the world is going to end. tommarow it is for the person who just wants to take care of themselfs in these uncertin times, i will be running this idea on a piece of ground that i have measured off  50x 50 foot area, and i have it fenced in, 4 foot high, i have 32 foot trailor inside the fenced area, for housing, heating at this time is propane, more on this later. at this time i have a 15 watt solar systom sat up and running and for now serves my small needs this to will exspand so. i also have a 1000 watt 2 cycle generator to run the trailor, mainly my tower pc and other items it uses, for the large power tools such as skill and table saw  i have a 2200 watt generator as time passes i will be doing prjects so i will need less from the outside and be able to sustain myself  possably my girlfriend and 5 dogs 12 chickens, i am just starting this project and as of this day i have set-up my basic living place and spring has just arrived so HHHHHHere we go, sit back and enjoy this adventer along with me, and trow out any ideas you have stashed away but please keep on topic as best we can
