mind set

The first step to becoming more self relieant is your mind set, what i mean by this is, if you plan to be on a small piece of ground you will need to think small, scale down what you need or want, this does not mean you have to get rid of all of your stuff it just means you that you have to be constantly thinking smaller size, or more production though out the year, a good example instead of using your garden space for only a few mounths a year you need to plan to use it year around, this can be done even in cold areas with a little planning, next thing is learn all you can about everything, this will and can save you alot of money and time, i read all those owner manuals i get with what i buy, i also read about all kinds of other things, that i think i may use down the road, learn how to repair things, i have several computers that i have fixed myself, after reading about how to fix them. also i got two computers that were 2 yrs. old they were high end and i could never afford them, but one day i was at a rental place and asked them if they any for sale they did we tried two of them and they did not work so they sold them booth to me for $80.00 i noticed that the monitor was an off brand and was not conpatable with the computers, i knew this from reading about the name of computers so i took them home hooked up the right monitor and they worked i saved myself over $1000 just from reading, this information is for people on low budgits, you also need to have the mind-set of try to fix everthing you can if it is already broken try to fix it cannt hurt it is already broken. i use solar and wind on my micro-stead to charge my batteries for lights and charge cell phone, i do this on a small scale, and use led lights it would never work using regular lights, if you go solar after a while you will start checking amps and voltage on every-thing to make sure it will work on your little homestead, with out even thinking about it, in other words think outside the box to get things done. my next post will deal with getting a place to homestead:before, during and moving, well maybe several posts, anyway i wiil lock up the chickens for ya!!!
